Preview: Junior & U23 European Championships in Durrës – Team Finland Ready for Big Lifts
It’s almost time for the Junior and U23 European Championships to kick off. The competition is held in Durrës, Albania, and we’re about to see a lot of big names and exciting lifts on the platform. Finland is bringing a very strong team to these European Championships — we have three real medal candidates, several lifters who can break into the TOP 10, and overall this is one of the best periods in Finnish weightlifting in years.
So, you want to follow the Euros and stay on track with Finland’s lifters and their challengers, but the start lists feel like a big hassle? I got you.
I made a preview video of the competition where I break down Team Finland, analyse what’s going on in their groups, give a quick review of the main medal contenders, and highlight the biggest challengers for each Finnish lifter. I also go through what our athletes have been doing in training and competition lately. You don’t need to know everything — I’ll break it down and give you insight into these intense European Championships.
Finland’s Medal Candidates
-
Janette Ylisoini – reigning Junior European Champion and she has been very strong lately.
-
Minni Hormavirta – consistent, improving, and absolutely capable of fighting for a medal.
-
Hanno Keskitalo – strong U23 lifter with solid recent performances.
And let’s not forget: World Championships are coming, and many of the lifters competing at these Junior Euros will head straight to Worlds afterwards. It’s going to be a very exciting event.
I’m already preparing a Worlds preview video too, and I’ll be having guests — including Finland’s Head Coach Teemu Roininen, for example. Great stuff coming up.
Livestream in Parkano
The livestream in Parkano is becoming reality. I’m making preparations and rehearsing for it, and I’m really excited to bring high‑quality Finnish weightlifting coverage to the audience.
New Content Coming
I was filming Eetu Kumpulainen in Tampere this weekend, and the video is going to be absolutely sick. If it’s weightlifting content you need, I got it.
I post YouTube Shorts every week, featuring competition lifts from our nationals and regional championships — the pulse of Finnish weightlifting.
